Hi, I'm Auntie Maz.
I'm the founder of TRUTH Spirituality and the creator of Everyday Hoodoo, a space dedicated to helping people navigate God, Ancestors, Hoodoo, and Spirituality with clarity, wisdom, and practical application.
For many people, spiritual life can feel confusing. Some are trying to reconnect with traditions their families practiced but never fully explained. Others are questioning teachings they inherited and searching for answers that honor both their faith and their lived experience. Still others are simply looking for a grounded approach to spiritual growth that doesn't require them to abandon common sense, personal responsibility, or their relationship with the Divine.
My work lives at those crossroads.
Through classes, readings, community education, Bible Work, Hoodoo teachings, and spiritual guidance, I help people develop a practical spiritual practice rooted in discernment, character, wisdom, and everyday application.
My spiritual journey has not followed a straight line.
I come from a Christian background and am a licensed Evangelist. My foundation in scripture continues to shape the way I approach spiritual work, teaching, and personal development. Over the years, my path expanded beyond the boundaries of what I was originally taught, leading me into deeper study of African-descended spiritual traditions, ancestor veneration, Hoodoo, and the many ways spirituality has been preserved and practiced within our communities.
As both a student and teacher, I have spent years exploring the relationship between faith, culture, history, spiritual practice, and personal transformation. That exploration eventually led me to Ifá, where I was initiated as an Iyanifa.
Today, I continue to bridge worlds that many people are told cannot coexist. My work often explores the relationship between Hoodoo and the Bible, spiritual discernment, ancestral wisdom, deconstruction and reconstruction of faith, spiritual sovereignty, and the practical realities of living a spiritually aligned life.
Everyday Hoodoo is the practical application of spiritual knowledge in daily life.
Everyday Hoodoo is the understanding that spirituality is not limited to rituals, ceremonies, or special occasions. It shows up in the plants growing around us, the prayers we pray, the wisdom we inherit, the choices we make, the character we cultivate, and the way we move through the world.
Through Everyday Hoodoo, I teach practical approaches to spiritual work using accessible tools, biblical principles, traditional knowledge, common plants, scripture, prayer, observation, and discernment.
My goal is not simply to give people instructions. My goal is to help people understand the why behind the what so they can develop confidence, wisdom, and spiritual maturity for themselves.
TRUTH Spirituality exists to educate, empower, and support people as they develop a deeper understanding of themselves, their spirituality, and their relationship with the Divine.
While people from many backgrounds find value in this work, my teaching is rooted in the traditions, history, and lived experiences of African American communities, and is in fact for the African diaspora community. What I teach through Everyday Hoodoo focuses on understanding Hoodoo within its cultural context, preserving traditional knowledge, and helping descendants of the African diaspora reconnect with practices, wisdom, and spiritual technologies that have been carried forward through generations.
Through readings, classes, workshops, workbooks, community discussions, and spiritual education, I create spaces where people can ask questions, challenge assumptions, explore traditions, and grow in knowledge without fear.
I believe spiritual growth requires both learning and personal responsibility. It requires curiosity, discernment, and the willingness to continue learning throughout life.
Most importantly, I believe people deserve access to information that helps them make informed spiritual decisions for themselves.
Whether you're seeking spiritual guidance, practical Hoodoo education, Bible Work instruction, community support, or tools to strengthen your spiritual practice, there are several ways to work with me through TRUTH Spirituality.
You can explore Monthly Hoodoo Work, Ask Auntie email readings, live classes and sessions, workbooks and guides, and Auntie's Community.
I invite you to pull up a chair, stay awhile, and join the conversation.
